Fertility

Chinese Medicine treats fertility effectively because it helps restore a healthy balance
within the body. Acupuncture and other Chinese Medical techniques help strengthen
areas of weakness which may be contributing to fertility problems.

Treating and enhancing fertility with Chinese Medicine is very comprehensive. Although
many women seek treatments alone, it can be helpful for both partners to be evaluated
during the course of treatments, especially if the cause of infertility is unknown.

The initial assessment for each client includes, but is not limited to, discussing the
following information:

  • Current symptoms/issues related to fertility
  • Health history (including family history if relevant)
  • Recent lab tests taken (including hormone levels in both women and men, sperm count/motility/morphology in men)
  • Menstrual cycle patterns, including any irregularities or problems
  • Diet and lifestyle habits
  • Current medications and/or supplements being taken

During the initial consultation and assessment, your acupuncturist will design
a specific and unique treatment plan to fit your needs. This treatment plan can
include:

  • Specific acupuncture points to help strengthen and re-balance the body, to prepare it for a healthy pregnancy
  • Dietary and nutritional recommendations for females and males trying to conceive
  • Lifestyle enhancement recommendations for both partners, if needed
  • Chinese herbal remedies, specifically designed to fit individual needs

For women undergoing Assisted Reproduction Technology (ART) procedures such as
IVF (in vitro fertilization), Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine can be extremely helpful.

Acupuncture in conjunction with IVF treatments has become very popular and common
in the United States over the past decade. Acupuncture can help reduce side effects of
the medications used during the IVF process, and it can also greatly increase the success
rate of the treatments.
